[Router] Fios-G1100 firmware update from 02.03.00.08 to 02.03.00.09

Early on this morn, Verizon appears to have pushed a firmware update for my Fios-G1100 from version 02.03.00.08 to version 02.03.00.09 . What are the new features/differences/changes/fixes in Fios-G1100 version 02.03.00.09 ?

Well, this question should be addressed by Verizon technology.

Some other update: verizon.com/speedtest now detects customer router. If no Verizon router is nowadays, the test would skip the Router to Verizon Network test and directly start the Device to Verizon Network examination.

If you lot don't have a G3100, it would remind you that your router is not current.

Non everyone needs the latest Honda Accordance for driving around the neighborhood with a 1GB speed limit. Evidently the G1100 is still being supported and receiving security updates, so that is fine for anyone. Specially if one already has a split up AP for the latest WiFi standards.

Did information technology skip the Router to Network test at least?

Nope. It did both router and device tests, which is what I desire. That lets me identify if speed issues are internal or external.

Your comment made it sound like it would nag you if the router is non a G3100, regardless of if it's a G1100.

Nosotros woke upward to no internet this morning. I ran the Fios test from my cellphone via cellular..it did one examination so I got prompted to enter my external WAN IP information, LOL ! I looked at the router and it had been upgraded to .09 and restarted effectually one.05am but the external WAN address was given as 0.0.0.0. I rebooted information technology, and it pulled a valid IP (same one I've had for months) so all well.

Last time I had to utilize the Fios testing part of the app, it was very straightforward...information technology restarted my router and then my ONT sequentially later step by pace testing so had expected the same this morning, not to exist asked to enter my ain WAN IP.

Perhaps, my G1100 was on 02.03.00.08 until late last night - pushed OTA ? as it updated to .09 (that's about xi hours ago) and rebooted itself (H/W: 1.03 on ours)

Ran VZ'due south speedtest - did Non skip the router examination before doing the device exam, both did fine as expected ... on the 300/300 provisioned tier, over hard-wired Cat6 wiring to the adept quondam Dell Optiplex desktop.
Router speed - 292/336 with 4 ms latency
Device test speed - 304/356 with 4 ms latency
Wifi speedtest on smartphone - 303/227, 4ms latency one ms Jitter

All these with nearly 2 dozen devices/connections being "alive" - several Google Home hardware, security cams, 2 iPads, Fire tablets, etc. As far equally I am concerned, no speed bug here in Due north.East. Queens (NYC) ... at the moment or lately.

I run into. I saw your log say "local1.info," it does non quite match the file proper name inside the log folder when you admission through SSH.

Only FYI, all logs that are available through the web interface are available through SSH. SSH offers more detailed logs on system alerts, UPnP sessions, wireless client authentication, and more.

You lot can actually download the log file from SSH directly using >. More than on this here »forums.verizon.com/t5/Fi ··· due east#M85034

Why is SSH blocked by firewall? I don't think yous can SSH from the outside, but LAN SSH is enabled past default on G1100.

My access wasn't enabled by default. I enabled SSH under Avant-garde --> Local administration --> Using Primary SSH Port (22)

However, it's still blocked. With my LAN PC (running Linux) on the command line:

$ ssh admin@192.168.i.i ssh: connect to host 192.168.1.1 port 22: Connection refused

Mayhap you lot need to reboot the router to enable the port 22? If y'all use nmap to scan the ports, is port 22 open?

A "Connexion refused" bulletin actually means that advice with the device was possible, just that a service isn't listening on that port. Information technology's too possible that the firewall is actively rejecting the packets, instead of merely blocking/dropping the packets (what well-nigh firewalls do). If the packets were but dropped, that normally results in a "Connectedness timed out" message.

Another update: verizon.com/speedtest at present detects customer router. If no Verizon router is present, the test would skip the Router to Verizon Network exam and straight start the Device to Verizon Network exam.

If yous don't have a G3100, information technology would remind you that your router is not electric current.

Only saw this thread and checked my router G1100, it'southward on the new .09 firmware. I ran the Verizon Speedtest by my browser and it did skip the router to Verizon test and went directly to device to network test. No mention of the router not being current. I actually utilise my ain router for my wifi network - information technology is in bridge mode continued to the Fios router past Ethernet. The Fios radios are turned off.

Previously both router to network and device tests were run only now merely the i was run.

Same here. With .09 firmware, no more than router test on my G1100. The web site doesn't complain about information technology either, but I miss having the router test. It was a useful data bespeak when diagnosing speed issues.

Exit it to Verizon to remove a useful characteristic for no apparent reason.

Might need to reboot your router and wait a day. I doubt Verizon would remove that feature. Rather information technology'south a backend registration issue with their speed test.

I rebooted my router, but »www.verizon.com/speedtest/ bypasses my router. I'll wait a mean solar day or so.

On the plus side, I'm getting 57/61 for 50/50 service.

On the minus side, rebooting didn't assistance my ssh access. With port 22 enabled for local administration. I'g nevertheless getting "Connection refused". It sees my attempt, but won't let me in.

Verizon's speedtest also bypasses my router. I'1000 on the new firmware.

This is a "customer owned" G1100, if that matters.

Speeds look skillful though, and then

That'due south weird. If yous have a Verizon router information technology should still run the router to the network test kickoff, then do device to the network. The speed test team seems to be still configuring it.
